You also have the choice of sailing "Bareboat" or with a Captain and Crew!

Chartering "bareboat" refers to chartering the yacht without professional crew aboard. If you have experience skippering similarly sized yachts, you can charter bareboat.

The wind conditions vary with the seasons but the waters are relatively deep and there are no tides, currents, banks, reefs or shoals. Sailing on your own is relatively easy but there are other reasons for to consider hiring one of our captains. This is especially true if this is your first time in the area.

First, one anchors in a method called "Mediterranean Mooring" which involves backing the boat to the pier after having set the anchor off the bow. This is unfamiliar to most people.

Second, there are so many wonderful details about Greece that a skipper can show you. The best restaurants, hidden coves, interesting people, and good shopping are available to those who use their skipper as a guide. Get the most out of your vacation! He'll allow you or teach you to do as much sailing as you wish!

Depending on the size of your group, a single boat or flotilla of yachts is at your disposal.

One of the most popular ways of cruising the Aegean is in a "flotilla". This is a group of boats sailing together.

GPSC can arrange flotillas so that singles, couples, and small groups who don't know each other can join together.

Flotillas consist of 6 boats or less and are accompanied by GPSC staff. Our staff assists with itinerary planning and helping the participants make the most out of the experience. Our flotillas use boats between 40-60 ft.

Bareboaters will benefit by having local assistance nearby but not on your own boat.
